The Student World Assembly-Nigeria co-sponsored the Nigerian Youth Summit Abuja, which held from May 18-22, 2008.

The 5 day event was aimed at steering the Nigerian Youth towards becoming leaders in national development and away from crime, unemployment and conflict.

D'banj, Nigeria's first United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace spoke at the Nigerian Youth Summit in Abuja. D'banj addressed about 2500 guests comprising of students and youth delegates from each of the 36 states of Nigeria and the 774 Local Government areas.

The Youth Summit Event will mark the official collaboration of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and SWA Nigeria.

D'banj was crowned Youth Ambassador for Peace by the United Nations in 2007.

In August 2008, Dbanj will be introducing his foundation which is geared towards education and empowerment for Youth in Nigeria.

Believe it or not, Dbanj has named his foundation THE KOKO FOUNDATION!!!! (I swear i love this guy!)

It is the season of entertainment award shows! Lagos gave us the Hip Hop World Awards & Sound City Music Videos Awards. Now the United States of America will be giving us The Nigerian Entertainment Award Show!

This event is set to take place in New York City.

Its no surprise to me that there is so much buzz around this event. Our entertainment industry is taking the world over by STORM!

On the 15th of April, NEA (Nigerian Entertainment Awards) announced that its event will be taking place on Saturdya, June 21st at the Skirball Center for Performing Arts in New York City.

The event also plans to be star studded. Last year we had Oluchi and Agbani Darego walking the red carpet.

I am curious to see the Nigerian & non-Nigerian celebrities on the red carpet. This years red carpet will be hosted by Icy Public Relations.

So performing already, we have heard Faze will be in the artist line up and Sunny Neji....



The nominee list has also been been released.

P Square has been nominated for FOUR AWARDS!!!! Best Afro Pop Act of the year, Best Album of the Year for "Game Over", Hottest Single of the year and Best Music Video of the year for "Do Me."

Timaya and 9ice both come in with THREE NOMINATIONS each! Both are nominated for Best New Act of th eyear and Hottest Single of the Year. Timaya for his self-titled track "Timaya" and 9ice for "Gongo Aso."



Olu Maintain snags a nomination for Best New Act of the Year along with Wande Cole and TY Bello.

The Best Album of the Year category is packed with a talented pool of artists such as Timaya, P Square, TY Bello, DJ Jimmy Jatt and ASA!

The International categories also include some big names in the music scene like eLDee the Don, Banky Wellington, Amplified Crew, NDU, OlaDELE, Sauce Kid...are all nominated for Best Internatial Album of the year.





Gift bags for this award show event will be put together by Bobby Taylor Consulting the same PR firm that handled the Gift bags for the Future Awards 2008 and please trust me i am YAY-EXCITED!

This event is going to be nothing short of a classic.
